Days 1–3

Istanbul

5* JW Marriott Istanbul Bosphorus Bed and Breakfast

Your tour will begin with a meet and assist at Istanbul airport from your international (or domestic) flight, followed by a 45-minute private VIP transfer to your chosen hotel. For this tour, we suggest the stunning luxury JW Marriott (budget permitting).

We will include a half-day city tour with a private guide on the first day (or second day, depending on your arrival time). This is a great way to discover the best of the city and decide which areas you want to explore more in the coming days.

Istanbul is a large and exciting city in Turkey, where Europe and Asia meet. It is full of history, culture, and beautiful views. Istanbul is a city where old and new come together. It offers a special experience for tourists who enjoy history, food, and friendly people. For tourists, it is a place with many things to see and do. One of the main sights in Istanbul is the Hagia Sophia, a great building that was once a church, then a mosque, and now a museum. Nearby, you can also visit the Blue Mosque, which is still used for prayer and is famous for its blue tiles. Another must-see is the Topkapi Palace, where the old sultans of the Ottoman Empire used to live. It has lovely gardens and treasures to explore.

You should also see the Grand Bazaar, one of the biggest and oldest markets in the world. It has thousands of shops selling everything from carpets to jewellery. A boat trip along the Bosphorus is a good way to see the city from the water and enjoy the views of palaces and bridges. Don’t miss the Basilica Cistern, an underground water palace with tall columns and a magical atmosphere.

The best time to visit Istanbul is in the spring (April to June) or autumn (September to October). The weather is warm but not too hot, and the city is less crowded than in summer. The summer months (July and August) can be very hot, busy, and sometimes uncomfortable, especially if you don’t like big crowds. Winter is not the worst time to visit, but it can be cold and rainy, and some outdoor places may not be as enjoyable.

Days 3–10

Alacati

After 3 nights in Istanbul, take an internal flight to Izmir, followed by a 1hr 45m transfer to Alacati. You can stop off at the ancient city of Ephesus, where you will visit the Basilica of St. John and the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

We recommend the luxurious Biblos Hotel in Alacati as the very best, but there are other great properties that fit different budgets. As always, speaking to an expert here who can guide you to the best property for you is best.

About Alacati +

Alaçatı is a beautiful town on Turkey’s Aegean coast and one of the best places in the country for wingfoiling. It has steady winds, shallow water, and a lovely natural setting, which makes it perfect for both beginners and experienced wingfoilers. You won’t find many places that offer such great wingfoiling conditions, high-quality hotels, and a charming town to explore all in one.

Alaçatı is also ideal for people who don’t wingfoil. Whether you're travelling with a partner or family, there’s something for everyone. The old town, just a short taxi ride from the beach, is full of life with cafés, open-air bars, and restaurants. It’s a great place to relax after a day on the water. The nearby town of Çeşme is also worth visiting. It has lots of shops and markets selling local Turkish goods, clothes, and souvenirs.

The bay in Alaçatı is wide and protected, with warm, clear water. The water is usually flat, with only small waves even when the wind is strong, which makes it easier and safer to learn wingfoiling. The sea bottom is mostly sand, so you won’t find sharp rocks or anything dangerous.

From May to October, the wind in Alaçatı blows almost every day. It usually starts late in the morning and gets stronger in the afternoon. Most days the wind is perfect—not too strong and not too light. This is why wingfoilers love it here. The wind direction is side-shore, which means it pushes you along the beach, not out to sea. This is the safest wind direction for learning.

There is a great wingfoil school right by the main beach, next to the Biblos Hotel. They speak English and offer full lessons with everything included—wing, foil board, and safety gear. The classes are either private or in small groups, so you get good attention and feel safe. Instructors help you get started, launch the wing, and are always nearby if you need help in the water.
