After picking up your car rental from either Olbia or Algerho airport, take the 1 hour drive north to the stunning Valle dell'Erica Resort - putting you within 20mins easy drive of the Porto Pollo Pro Centre for Windsurfing, Kitesurfing and Wing Foiling

Prepare for a 5 night stay with Half Board included.

About Northern Sardinia +

Sardinia is one of the most stunning islands in the Mediterranean. A hidden gem! For wingfoilers and non-wingfoilers alike you will find something here for everyone. With white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters as beautiful as the Caribbean, and only a short two hour flight away from the UK.

The wingfoilers beach at Porto Pollo is a beautiful spot in a bay on the north coast of Sardinia, a short drive from the local harbour town of Pulau and around 40 minutes from Olbia airport. It is essential to have a car in Sardinia so all Planet Wingfoil Holidays come with pre-arranged car rental as part of your holiday arrangements.

As with all of our wingfoilers resorts we have spent considerable time and effort inspecting the resort, testing the conditions and ensuring we offer only the very best available accommodation and wingfoil centre services in this region. If you are considering a wingfoilers holiday to Sardinia then please call and speak to one of our expert wingfoil travel specialists so we can guide you to the right flights, hotel and wingfoil instruction, rental and safety cover services.

If you are travelling to Sardinia July in August please book early as there is very limited accommodation options and they tend to be fully booked quickly in the peak Italian holiday season.

Days 5–8

Marsala

3* Carmine Hotel Bed and Breakfast

After dropping your car off at Alghero and taking the short flight to Palermo (not included but can be added) - you will then pick up your car and drive the 1h and 20 mins to stunning city of Marsala. Here you will stay at the well located Hotel Carmine for 3 nights on a Bed and Breakfast basis.  Marsala is a perfect walking city with cafes and restaurants as well as amazing architecture and history. Recharge your batteries before heading the Stagnone Lagoon for your final 6 days.

About Marsala +
Marsala is a lovely town on the western coast of Sicily, known for its wine, beautiful views, and peaceful atmosphere. Marsala offers a relaxing and authentic Sicilian experience, with good wine, friendly people, and lovely views. It’s ideal for travellers who enjoy a slower pace and want to explore the quieter side of Sicily. It is smaller and quieter than Palermo, but full of charm, especially for those who enjoy history, good food, and a slower pace.

The most famous thing about Marsala is its Marsala wine, a sweet fortified wine that has been made here for centuries. You can visit local wineries, such as Florio or Pellegrino, to learn how the wine is made and enjoy a tasting. It's a fun and relaxing experience, especially for adults who enjoy trying local drinks.

One of the main sights in the town itself is the historic centre, with its elegant buildings, narrow streets, and pretty squares. The Cathedral of Marsala, also called St. Thomas of Canterbury Cathedral, stands in the main square and is a nice place to visit. Not far from there, you can also explore the Archaeological Museum of Baglio Anselmi, which holds the remains of a real ancient Phoenician ship – one of the few you can see in the world.

The best time to visit Marsala is in the spring (April to June) or autumn (September to early November), when the weather is warm and pleasant but not too hot. These seasons are perfect for walking around the town, visiting wineries, and enjoying the countryside. Summer, especially July and August, can be very hot and a bit too dry for long walks, although the beaches nearby are nice for swimming. Winter is cooler and quieter, and while you may find some rain, it’s still milder than in most places in northern Europe.

Lo Stagnone Sicily

5* Baglio Oneto Wine resort Bed and Breakfast

For the final 6 days of your trip head 20 mins north to Lo Stagnone Lagoon - perfect for Kiting and Wing Foiling (at the deeper spots), there is also the possibility for beginner and intermediate Windsurfing too.

10 minutes inland is the beautiful Baglio Oneto Wine Resort, with stunning views over the lagoon - here you will stay for 6 nights in a Deluxe Double room with Breakfast included

About Lo Stagnone Sicily +
Stagnone Lagoon in Sicily is a great spot for learning to wing, especially suited for beginners and improves. Located near Marsala on Sicily’s west coast, the lagoon features shallow (so often a shorter mast is used), flat waters that create an ideal environment for learning. Its shallow depth, rarely exceeding one meter, allows learners to stand comfortably, making it less intimidating than deeper waters. The flat, mirror-like surface is due to natural barriers protecting the lagoon from waves, so riders can focus on balancing and controlling the wing without challenging choppy conditions.

Wind conditions at Stagnone are also remarkably reliable. From spring through early fall, consistent thermal winds typically range from 10 to 20 knots, perfect for wingfoiling. The winds are gentle enough for beginners yet strong enough for practising different wing sizes and progressing to more advanced skills over time. Accessibility is another advantage, as the lagoon is close to Marsala and offers easy entry points, often with nearby parking. This area is known for its calm waters, low current, and clear visibility, making it a safe and confidence-inspiring place to learn.

Surrounded by salt pans, historic windmills, and views of the Egadi Islands, it offers a picturesque backdrop, enhancing the overall learning experience. With local cafes, restaurants, and accommodations nearby, it’s easy to take breaks and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere before returning to the water.

The best time to wingfoil in Stagnone is from April to October when the warm temperatures and steady winds provide perfect conditions. Shoulder months like April, May, September, and October offer fewer crowds while maintaining excellent weather.
Stagnone Lagoon’s safe conditions, friendly community, and beautiful scenery make it an exceptional location for wingfoiling.
