The tour can start any way around, but in this sample itinerary, we will start with the capital city of Athens. For this tour, we have used a great, centrally located warehouse property set under the Acropolis. Athens is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is full of history, culture, and beautiful old buildings. If you love learning about the past and seeing ancient places, Athens is a great place to visit.
Athens and The Peloponnese
Athens is the capital city of Greece and one of the oldest cities in the world. It is full of history, culture, and beautiful old buildings. If you love learning about the past and seeing ancient places, Athens is a great place to visit.
The main sight to see in Athens is the Acropolis. This is a large hill in the middle of the city with old temples on top. The most famous temple there is the Parthenon, which was built more than 2,000 years ago to honour the goddess Athena. From the top of the Acropolis, you can see the whole city.
Other places worth visiting include the Ancient Agora, where people used to gather in old times to shop and talk. The Temple of Olympian Zeus is also very impressive, even though only some of the big columns are still standing. You can also visit the Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum to see statues, jewellery, and other things found in ancient ruins. A walk around Plaka, the old neighbourhood near the Acropolis, is also very nice, with narrow streets, small shops, and cafes.
The best time to visit Athens is in spring (April to early June) or autumn (September to October). During these times, the weather is warm but not too hot, and there are fewer tourists, so it is easier to enjoy the sights. The summer months (July and August) can be very hot, often over 35°C, and the city can be crowded. That makes walking around less comfortable. In winter, Athens is quieter and cheaper, but some days can be rainy and a bit cold.
Days 3 - 6
4* Celini Suites Hotel
Bed and Breakfast
An hour by ferry from Rafina Port (on the East of Athens), you will find the incredible and authentic Island of Evia. This amazing island is used by Athenians to escape at the weekend. Incredible food, hikes, remote and stunning beaches, crystal clear water and an opportunity for competent kiters and wingfoilers in Marmari.
Evia Island
Southern Evia is a quiet and beautiful part of the Greek island of Evia. It is a lovely place for tourists who enjoy nature, the sea, and traditional villages. The area is not as busy as other parts of Greece, so it feels peaceful and more local.
The main sight to visit in southern Evia is the town of Karystos. It is by the sea and has a long history. You can visit Castello Rosso, an old Venetian castle on a hill that gives you great views of the area. In Karystos, you can also walk along the harbour, enjoy fresh fish at seaside tavernas, and swim at the beach.
Other nice places to see include the Dimosari Gorge, which is perfect for walking. It is green and quiet, with small rivers and waterfalls. You can also visit traditional mountain villages like Milia and Kalyvia, where life moves slowly and people are friendly. The beaches in the south are clean and natural. Some of the best ones are Potami, Agios Dimitrios, and Bouros, where you can relax and swim in clear water.
The best time to visit southern Evia is in spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to October). The weather is warm but not too hot, the sea is good for swimming, and it is not too crowded. July and August can be very hot and more busy, as Greek families often come for holidays. In winter, some tourist places may close and the weather can be windy and cool, but the area is still pretty and calm.
Southern Evia is perfect for a quiet holiday with sea, nature, and Greek charm. It is a place where you can slow down and enjoy simple, beautiful things.
