Tour Highlights

This Wild North Wingfoil Adventure takes you along Brazil’s northeast coast, getting wilder and wilder the further North you travel, combining world-class Wingfoiling with off-the-beaten-path travel. Highlights include a private guided boat tour through the vast Parnaíba Delta and the chance to explore the surreal dunes and lagoons of Lençóis Maranhenses. It’s an unforgettable mix of sport, nature and authentic Brazilian culture.

Days 1 - 6

5* Club de Mar

Breakfast

This epic adventure begins in Icaraizinho, one of the best all-around Wingfoil spots in all of Brazil, and is easily accessible from Fortaleza Airport at around three hours or from Jericoacoara Airport in about ninety minutes.

Icaraizinho

Icaraizinho is a very special stretch of Northern Brazil, offering a relaxed, charming setting with excellent wingfoiling conditions for all levels. This small beach fishing village has a handful of restaurants, boutique pousadas and simple local amenities, all set along a wide, beautiful beach. The steady trade winds and mix of flat water and small waves make it ideal for both learning and progression.

There are some excellent properties Planet Travel work with directly by the main Wingfoiling spot, as well as a new high-end luxury resort opening at the back end for 2026 (we are very excited by the opening of this long-awaited property)

We generally recommend 3 to 5 days here as part of a wider trip along this stunning coastline, although it can also work well for a longer, more laid-back stay, especially if you are travelling with a partner or family.

When planning a wingfoiling holiday to Brazil, getting the right advice on location, accommodation and centres is key. The best options are limited and knowing where to stay makes a big difference to the overall experience. We know this coastline inside out, so do get in touch and we will help you put together the right wingfoiling trip for your level and budget.

Days 6 - 10

3* Vila Kalango

Breakfast

Next up is Jericoacoara, or simply Jeri, one of the best-known windsurfing and wing foiling spots in the whole of Brazil, and a must-visit stop on any wing foiling tour through this part of the country.

Jeri is a strong-wind destination, especially during the peak wind months of September, October and November, so be sure to bring small wings with you. That said, it is also one of the only places in Brazil where you can rent very high-quality wing foiling equipment, including smaller wings and foils for intermediate and advanced riders.

Jericoacoara

Why Jericoacoara is One of Brazil's Most Iconic Wing Foiling Destinations - Jericoacoara, or simply "Jeri" as it's known locally, is one of the most famous beach destinations in Northern Brazil. Known for its stunning sandy beaches, vibrant atmosphere and legendary wind conditions, it has long attracted windsurfers and, more recently, wing foilers from around the world. Unlike many of Brazil's more remote wind sports destinations, Jericoacoara offers the perfect combination of exceptional riding conditions and a lively beach town. Boutique hotels, excellent restaurants, beach bars, cafés and a unique Brazilian atmosphere make it an exciting place to spend both your time on and off the water.

For wing foilers looking for reliable strong wind, varied water conditions and one of the best sports scenes in Brazil, Jericoacoara is a destination that deserves a place on every shortlist. Jericoacoara has become one of the leading wing foiling destinations in Brazil thanks to its combination of reliable trade winds and varied riding conditions. Unlike destinations that focus almost entirely on flat water, Jeri offers a mixture of protected sections for speed and progression together with small rolling swell and playful waves just offshore. This variety allows riders to enjoy everything from relaxed cruising to carving swell, wave riding and advanced manoeuvres within the same session.

It is also one of the very few destinations in Brazil where experienced wing foilers can rent high-quality, premium equipment, making it an excellent choice for travellers who prefer not to fly with their own gear.

Understanding the Wind - Jericoacoara enjoys exceptionally reliable wind throughout the main season, making it one of Brazil's premier wind sports destinations.
However, it is important to understand that Jeri is also one of the windier locations along Brazil's northeast coast. During the peak months of September, October and November, wind strengths regularly increase well beyond 30 knots, creating exciting conditions for experienced riders but potentially becoming demanding for beginners or lighter riders. For this reason, choosing the right travel dates is an important part of planning a successful wing foiling holiday. At Planet Travel, we advise every client on the expected wind strength throughout the season to ensure the conditions match their experience and riding style.

More Than Just a Wing Foiling Destination - One of the reasons Jericoacoara remains so popular is that there is always something happening. The village is full of excellent restaurants, relaxed cafés, boutique shops, lively beach bars and beautiful sandy streets where cars are largely absent. After a day on the water, it's easy to spend the evening enjoying the sunset from the dunes before heading into town for dinner and drinks. This vibrant atmosphere makes Jericoacoara particularly popular with couples, groups of friends and travellers who want their holiday to offer more than simply great wind conditions.

Choosing the Right Hotel Matters - Jericoacoara has no shortage of accommodation, but quality varies enormously. Many hotels appear impressive online yet fail to deliver the level of comfort, service or location that international travellers often expect. Some are affected by noise from nearby bars or late-night entertainment, while others simply don't represent good value for money. Having visited Jericoacoara extensively, we have carefully selected only a small collection of properties that genuinely meet our standards. These hotels combine excellent accommodation, quieter locations, easy access to the beach and a much better overall guest experience. Whether you're looking for a stylish boutique hotel or a luxury retreat, we'll recommend the property that best matches your priorities and budget.

Who is Jericoacoara Best For? Jericoacoara is ideal for wing foilers who want to combine outstanding riding conditions with the energy of one of Brazil's most famous beach towns. It is particularly well suited to intermediate and advanced riders looking to experience reliable wind, small waves, rolling swell and varied water conditions throughout their stay. It is also an excellent choice for couples and groups who enjoy having plenty of restaurants, bars, cafés and nightlife within walking distance, creating a holiday that offers just as much enjoyment off the water as on it.

For experienced travellers who appreciate boutique hotels, vibrant surroundings and one of the best wing foiling scenes in South America, Jericoacoara remains one of Brazil's standout destinations.

Why Book Your Jericoacoara Wing Foiling Holiday with Planet Travel? - At Planet Travel, we regularly inspect the destinations and hotels we recommend, allowing us to offer genuine first-hand advice rather than relying on brochure descriptions. We've spent considerable time identifying the best accommodation in Jericoacoara, selecting hotels that offer the right balance of quality, comfort, location and value while avoiding those affected by excessive noise or inconsistent standards.

Whether you're planning a dedicated wing foiling holiday or combining Jericoacoara with other destinations such as Fortim, Tatajuba, Atins or Barra Grande, we'll create a tailor-made itinerary based on your riding ability, preferred wind strength and style of holiday.

If you're looking for one of Brazil's most exciting wing foiling destinations, combining exceptional wind, varied water conditions, premium equipment rental and a lively beach town atmosphere, Jericoacoara is difficult to beat.

Days 10 - 15

4* BGK Kitesurf and Wing Foil Resort

Breakfast

Today the trip becomes a little more adventurous with a six-hour off-road transfer, which includes beach driving and river crossings, as we make our way up to Barra Grande. We are now starting to enter the truly wild north.

Barra Grande

Barra Grande is one of the best Wing Foil destinations in Brazil for those looking to Wingfoiling directly from their accommodation, in a large flat water spot, with a choice of a good restaurant to eat out close by. This makes it a great location for all types of Wing Foil holidays, including a family Wing Foil holiday. The wing foiling school here is especially good and very professional.

Barra Grande, located in the state of Piauí, has been a renowned kiteboarding destination in South America for many years but is less known by Europeans, although this is now changing. The closest airport is Jericoacoara (around 2.5 hours away). Barra Grande works really well in combination with Icaraizinho or Prea.

Days 15 - 16

4* Casa de Santo Antonio

Breakfast

The adventure continues with another epic transfer, combining 4x4 off-road driving, road sections and boat crossings to reach the Parnaíba Delta (around 6 hours).

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a private guided boat tour through the vast network of rivers, lagoons and mangrove channels that make up this extraordinary delta. Your expert local guide will take you deep into the waterways to spot wildlife, navigate hidden channels and experience the unique landscapes of this rare oceanic delta, all in the comfort of your own private vessel.

The Parnaiba Delta Reserve

The Parnaíba River Delta is an ecological sanctuary of enormous natural beauty. It is the only delta in the Americas that flows into the open sea and is the third largest in the world. Its branches form an archipelago with over 75 islands, dunes, freshwater lagoons and a lush tropical forest where crocodiles, gibbons, capybaras, monkeys and birds of rare natural beauty can be found. It is here that at sunset, we watch the unforgettable Flight of the Guarás every day.

The delta is divided into five arms, with Canárias Island being the largest and most well-known for its natural beauty and wildlife. The mangrove forests and islands within the delta are home to a rich array of biodiversity, including caimans, capybaras, and countless bird species such as herons, scarlet ibises, and parrots. Visitors might also spot monkeys, sea turtles, and even dolphins near the river mouth.

Parnaíba Delta is perfect for eco-tourism and adventure activities. You can take boat tours through the mangrove channels, explore dune-filled islands like Ilha das Canárias, swim in the freshwater lagoons, and spot wildlife. Sunset tours are especially popular, offering breathtaking views as the sun sets over the delta, casting golden hues over the water and sand.

This natural reserve is a lesser-known gem compared to other Brazilian destinations, allowing for a more tranquil experience amidst untouched landscapes and vibrant ecosystems.

Days 15 - 20

4* Kitesurf Lagoon Chalets

Breakfast

The final leg of the trip takes you to Atins, with a transfer of around seven hours that again includes 4x4 travel both on and off road, followed by a final speedboat arrival. Atins is absolutely worth the journey, especially for the incredible Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, where you can even kitesurf inside the massive sand dunes — a truly unforgettable experience.

Atins

Why Atins is One of Brazil's Most Spectacular Wing Foiling Destinations. If you're looking for a wing foiling holiday somewhere truly different, Atins is one of the most remarkable destinations anywhere in Brazil. Located on Brazil's remote northern coastline, where the Preguiças River meets the Atlantic Ocean, Atins offers an unforgettable combination of reliable wind, huge flat-water riding areas, breathtaking natural scenery and an atmosphere that feels a world away from modern life. Although reaching Atins requires a little more travelling than many of Brazil's other wing foiling destinations, every guest we send there agrees on one thing – it is absolutely worth the journey. For experienced travellers looking for an authentic Brazilian adventure without compromising on comfort, Atins is one of the highlights of our entire Brazil collection.

A Truly Unique Adventure. Atins is one of the most remote destinations we offer, and that is precisely what makes it so special. There are two main ways to include Atins in your holiday. Some guests fly into São Luís before enjoying a scenic road and boat transfer of around six hours to reach the village. More commonly, however, we recommend including Atins as the final destination on a tailor-made journey along Brazil's spectacular northern coastline. Combining several of Brazil's outstanding wing foiling destinations before finishing in Atins creates one of the finest wind sports itineraries anywhere in the world, before flying home from São Luís. For travellers who enjoy discovering places that remain refreshingly untouched by mass tourism, Atins is difficult to beat.

Wing Foiling in Atins - While Atins is internationally famous as one of the gateways to the spectacular Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, it is also one of Brazil's hidden gems for wing foiling. The wide river estuary creates extensive areas of beautifully flat water, making it ideal for everything from learning the sport to improving technique or simply enjoying long, relaxed cruising sessions in a stunning natural setting. Unlike some of Brazil's more exposed locations, wind strengths in Atins are typically between 20 and 30 knots throughout the main season. These are ideal conditions for wing foiling, providing plenty of power while remaining comfortable and manageable for most riders.

Around one to two hours either side of low tide, some of the shallow areas become less accessible. However, there are always deeper channels available for riding, and for the vast majority of the tidal cycle the conditions are outstanding. For many wing foilers, Atins offers some of the easiest and most enjoyable flat-water riding in Brazil.

One of the Best Places in Brazil to Learn Wing Foiling. The combination of flat water, consistent wind and a relaxed atmosphere makes Atins one of the best places in Brazil to learn wing foiling. Beginners benefit from forgiving conditions that make standing, balancing and controlling the wing significantly easier than in choppier or stronger wind locations.
Intermediate riders quickly gain confidence, while more experienced wing foilers can focus on refining gybes, tacks, pumping techniques and freestyle manoeuvres without battling difficult water conditions.

More Than Just Wing Foiling. Atins is perhaps best known as one of the gateways to the world-famous Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. This extraordinary landscape of towering white sand dunes and crystal-clear freshwater lagoons is unlike anywhere else on Earth and is one of Brazil's most spectacular natural attractions. During your stay, you can explore the dunes by 4x4, enjoy guided excursions, visit secluded freshwater lagoons, take boat trips along the Preguiças River or simply relax and soak up the peaceful atmosphere that makes Atins so unique. It is this combination of world-class wing foiling and unforgettable natural beauty that makes Atins such an exceptional destination.

Luxury Accommodation in a Remote Paradise - Despite its remote location, Atins has developed an impressive collection of stylish boutique hotels and luxury pousadas. We've carefully selected the very best properties, combining contemporary comfort with outstanding hospitality, beautiful design and easy access to the wing foiling launch areas. These high-quality properties also make Atins an excellent choice for couples, families and groups where not everyone is wing foiling. While one partner enjoys time on the water, others can relax by the pool, enjoy exceptional dining, explore Lençóis Maranhenses or simply unwind in one of Brazil's most beautiful coastal settings.

Who is Atins Best For? Atins is perfect for travellers looking for something genuinely different. It is ideal for beginners wanting one of Brazil's easiest places to learn wing foiling, intermediate riders looking for reliable flat-water progression conditions, and experienced wing foilers seeking an unforgettable destination away from the better-known resorts.
It is also an excellent choice for couples, families and luxury travellers who appreciate boutique accommodation, exceptional scenery and authentic experiences, while remaining close to nature. If you're looking for a destination that combines adventure, luxury and some of Brazil's finest flat-water wing foiling, Atins should be high on your list.

Why Book Your Atins Wing Foiling Holiday with Planet Travel? At Planet Wingfoil Holidays, we specialise in tailor-made luxury wing foiling holidays throughout Brazil. Our team regularly visits every destination we recommend, allowing us to provide genuine first-hand advice on accommodation, travel logistics, wind conditions and the best time to visit. We'll help you decide whether Atins works best as a standalone destination or as the grand finale to an unforgettable multi-centre itinerary along Brazil's spectacular northern coastline.

If you're searching for one of Brazil's most exclusive and rewarding wing foiling holidays, combining reliable wind, flat-water riding, luxury boutique accommodation and the unforgettable landscapes of Lençóis Maranhenses, Atins is quite simply one of the finest destinations we know.
