Your experience in Rio depends significantly on where you choose to stay. The beach districts such as Copacabana and Ipanema offer the classic Rio feeling but can be busy, lively and at times a little gritty. They are full of energy, beach life and restaurants, but they are not the cleanest or calmest parts of the city.
