Kitesurf and Wingfoil Centre
Our partner Kitesurf and Wingfoil Centre Kalpitiya is one of Sri Lanka’s leading centres, located on the shores of the main Kalpitiya Lagoon. The centre combines premium Duotone equipment, experienced international instructors, and direct access to the best flat-water and freeride conditions. The setup is designed for everyone from complete beginners through to experienced riders looking for coaching, progression, freestyle conditions, kitefoiling, or guided adventures downwind.
The centre overlooks the enormous Kalpitiya Lagoon, which is widely regarded as one of the premier kitesurfing destinations in Sri Lanka thanks to its shallow water, warm temperatures, reliable wind, and huge open riding areas. The main summer wind season runs from May through to October, when the south-west monsoon delivers strong and consistent winds, often ranging between 18 and 30 knots. A secondary winter season operates from December to March with lighter but still reliable winds and calmer ocean conditions.
One of the major advantages of the Center is that guests can kitesurf and wingfoil directly from the centre itself. Riders launch straight into the shallow lagoon immediately in front of the school, making it ideal for lessons, freeriding, freestyle progression, kitefoiling, and wingfoiling. The protected flat-water conditions directly outside the centre are particularly well suited to beginners and intermediate riders looking for safe and forgiving conditions.
In addition to riding directly from the school, the centre also organises trips and excursions to a range of nearby kite and wingfoil locations throughout the Kalpitiya region. These include remote sandbanks, ocean wave spots, freestyle lagoons, and downwinder routes accessed by boat or vehicle. The surrounding coastline offers a huge variety of riding conditions, from perfectly flat shallow water to open-ocean swell and freeride areas, allowing guests to experience multiple styles of riding during their stay.
Wingfoiling has become increasingly popular in Kalpitiya due to the combination of steady wind, warm water, and expansive flat-water areas. The centre offers dedicated wingfoil tuition, coaching, and rental using the latest Duotone wings, boards, and foil equipment. Beginners generally learn directly in front of the centre within the protected lagoon, while more advanced riders can explore longer-distance freeride sessions and ocean conditions further afield.
The centre provides a full range of kitesurfing, kitefoil, and wingfoil services, including beginner lessons, advanced coaching, supervised sessions, clinics, rescue support, rental, and guided excursions. Instruction is delivered by qualified international instructors using current Duotone and ION equipment suitable for all levels, from first-time students through to advanced freestyle and foil riders.
One of the key appeals of them Center is the sheer diversity of riding available within a relatively small area. Guests can spend one session learning or progressing directly in front of the school in shallow flat water, then head out later in the day for boat-assisted safaris, downwinders, freestyle sessions, or wave riding along the Indian Ocean coastline.
