Why we rate this centre

Our fully stocked windsurf, kitesurf and wingfoil centre (also with SUP and Surf Boards) is based at the end of the St Regis Resort beach, right on the main beach called La Pointe.

Directly off the beach here you are into a turquoise lagoon and shallow water offering perfect and easy conditions. The whole lagoon is surrounded by a reef, which is 600 metres off the beach. Depending on the tide, the water might be so shallow at some very low tides that sometimes neither the reef nor the lagoon can be accessed. Outside the reef you will find 2 of the best wave spots in the world; Manawa and One Eye. This is for very advanced levels only. If you are not very familiar with these spots please ensure you speak to the centre first who can arrange an instruction to go with you.

If you are not staying at the St Regis (the only hotel on the main wind beach), we can arrange for a shuttle to collect you from other hotels on the Le Morne peninsular, including Dinarobin, Pardis and LUX Le Morne). If you are booking a holiday with a car, there is easy parking at the centre.

Safety - Le Morne is one of the best and most versatile spots on the Planet for ocean wind sports, if not the most versatile in the world. Here you will find all conditions from shallow water lagoon, to the Small Reef along the Platin Rouge and then on the outer reef waves spots of Manawa, Chameau, or the famous wave spot “One-Eye”. Safety at this location is an absolute priority as the varying tide, wind and swell conditions can create extreme safety hazards in some areas at certain times. The centre here provides constant safety boat cover, as well as maintaining well-marked and flagged no-go areas. If the simple rules are adhered to this is a very safe location. All clients should be registered at the centre and follow the safety briefing.

Windsurfing - This is the best fully stocked windsurf centre in Le Morne, with all the newest Duotone sails and Boards at great prices. SUP and Surf equipment are included for pre-booked windsurf rental. The centre has lots of experience running this amazing but complex sailing area. All abilities are catered for from a kid's beginner school through to advanced down-the-line wave sailing, Mauritius really does have it all!

Kitesurfing - This is the only fixed kitesurf station in Le Morne, stocking a large range of the newest Duatone equipment from the whole range. For independent level kitesurfer, you can launch directly from the centre into the lagoon. Kitesurf lessons will be taken at the beginner training lagoon, a 20-minute walk down the beach (the centre will take you for pre-booked lessons). We also offer a Kitesurf Prestige service for our guests of the St Regis, with a private speed boat and private instruction taking you to the best and most uncrowded spots in the lagoon.

Wing Foiling - Wing Foiling here is amazing, although, at low tides, water depth can be reactive in some places. For advanced Wing Foiling Manawa is a popular wave spot. The centre had a good stock of Duotone Boards and Wings. We can also officer combi rental of windsurf or kitesurf.

Kitesurfing Lessons with a personal instructor gives you the opportunity to have a 2-on-1 interaction with your instructor to help you learn at a pace that is driven by you. The Learn To Kitesurf course aims to get you riding, while also teaching you how to read the conditions and utilise your equipment safely and correctly.


You will start with the basics; this includes setup of your equipment, safety features that you will utilise and how to fly a small 2metre trainer kite. When your instructor feels you are ready you can then head to the water. On day one you will only be using the kite and not go on the board just yet. Entering the water is when the fun starts! Here you will be taught how to properly fly an inflatable kitesurfing kite, how to control your kite and what to do if you crash it in the water. On day one you will be comfortable flying the kite and know what to do in any situation.

Semi-private lessons are offered with a maximum of two people and ensure fast progression. Your course includes Kite, board, Harness, wetsuit, life jacket and insurance.

The range of equipment will vary from each different kitesurf school, so sometimes the exact kite size may not be available. Kitesurf rental packages are great if you want to experiment with different types of equipment before you decide to invest in your own, or if you just don't want toe hassle of taking your own equipment. 

The quality of kitesurf rental equipment will vary from each different sport centre. Take a look at the sport centre details for more information on this. if you are not sure then you can always call us. We only work with the best kitesurf centres in each resort and do our best to visit every centre we offer. 

Note:

You must be able to demonstrate safe setup and use of the equipment, and be able to ride upwind (most of the time). If the centre feels that you are not yet ready to kite independently they may swap out some of the rental value for instruction.
