Our partner windsurf centre in Bonaire is in a perfect location on the shores on the amazing Lac Bay windsurf lagoon a stones throw from the Sorobon Hotel, so a perfect set up for both windsurfers and their families or partners. The centre has a laid back relaxed and super friendly atmosphere together with the very newest boards from Fanatic, Starboard, Severne and RRD. Sails from Severne and Duotone
For beginner or improver windsurfers it simply does not get any better than this and we would class it as one of the best spots for this level in the world ! A consistent on-shore wind, shimmering turquoise 82 degree water and no wetsuit required. The bottom is white sand with virtually no rocks or other underwater obstructions to step on or kick.

Wingfoiling
Because of of the shallow section of the bay, Jibe City benefits from ideal learning conditions, particularly for wingfoiling. Due to the shallow water depth, shorter foil masts are primarily used, making progression easier and safer for beginners. Standard-length masts are also available; however, guests wishing to use them will need to walk to the deeper section of the bay or drive a short distance to launch comfortably.

The centre offers lessons for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced riders, and is in the process of introducing dedicated wingfoil clinics. A wide range of boards and wings is available from leading brands including NeilPryde, Starboard and Duotone, ensuring riders have access to quality, up-to-date equipment.

A 7-day wingfoil package includes the use of a locker, impact vest, helmet, SUP, kayak and windsurf equipment (including harness). Optional gear insurance is booked locally

Please note that Storage space for personal wingfoil equipment is not available on site.

 FAMILY WINDSURF HOLIDAY

This is also a perfect place for a family windsurf holiday with specialty 3 day kids windsurf clinics held almost every week in July and August (please call for specific dates). The kids windsurf clinics are a fun way to get an introduction to windsurfing for kids and teenagers between the age of 7-17 years old.

The kids windsurfing clinic consists of 3 mornings and it includes:

Windsurf foil is a true revolution for windsurfing, offering a whole new dimension to the sport. Are you also tempted to try foil windsurfing and be able to ride full speed above the water with only 7-10 knots of wind? You are not the only one!

Windfoiling is relatively easy to learn, especially if you already know how to windsurf. You may find the first runs difficult, as you need to get used to controlling the foil with small body movements. After a while, you will finally understand the influence of your body weight and find the right position on your board. The time needed to get flying is usually 2 to 4 hours, and you should manage to have a relaxed flight after only 4 to 5 sessions.
Moreover, windfoiling is far less physical than funboarding. As you are flying above the sea, there is no friction on the water’s surface, and the hydrodynamic drag is minimal. The propulsive force needed when sailing above the water is thus much lower than in regular windsurfing. In other words, you will need smaller sails for the same wind conditions, and you will not be physically tired after a session. This makes windfoiling suitable for everybody, regardless of age or gender.
The key in managing your first runs in the air is to be light on your feet, understand how to position your body and use your body weight to control the foil.
When you are foiling, your body is upright on the board, as there is very little traction generated by the sail. This enables you to literally stand above the foil, and control the height with your feet and body weight. Move your body backward and press on the back foot to lift the nose of the board and get higher. On the contrary, move your body forward and press with front foot to go down.

Windfoiling is the perfect weapon where there is not enough consistent wind for traditional short boards. Windsurfing full speed in 8-10 knot conditions with small sails is no longer a dream. This is because you just need enough wind to pull you up on the foil. You will then generate enough apparent wind to increase your speed up to the foil cruising speed, which is usually about 20 knots. 
 
While 8 knots is a real target, it becomes very technical. When learning, we would recommend starting with a wind range, between 12-15 knots and a relative small sail (5 or 6 m2). That way you will easily experience the lift given by the foil, and the rig will be light and easy to manoeuver.

For anyone who has never tried windsurfing before, during this windsurf course, you will learn the very basics of Windsurfing. This includes how to lift the sail up from the water to your first rides in both directions.

Your course includes board, sail, wetsuit, life jacket and insurance.

Note:

upto 6-8 students in the water. We will schedule your course to start on your first full day, but you must remain available to the school to work around local wind and sea conditions, as well as instructor availability.

Spend as much time as possible having fun on the water with daily unlimited equipment rental. This includes boards, sails, harness and wetsuit. Most centres will 'fix' your ideal board size to ensure availability, but you have access to all available equipment. It is important to pre-book your windsurf rental as part of your holiday to be sure of availability, especially in over the high season periods.

Note:

  • Please make a note of your ideal board size and style in the 'notes' section.
  • Rental can only be used on consecutive days.
  • In the case of no wind, most centers will allow you to use other sports equipment, such as: SUP and Surf boards.
  • Please note that local prices can be significantly more expensive than pre-booked prices.
  • Damage Insurance is not included and should be paid locally 

    For windsurf rental of equipment, you may be required to produce a VDWS/IKO/RYA or equivalent licence to prove your ability to rent (For Egypt this is mandatory, and if unable to provide you will need to do a skills test and pay for a licence locally)
