The watersports centre is at the heart of Filho do Vento, forming an essential part of the lodge’s identity. The focus is firmly on kitesurfing, wingfoiling and kitefoiling, supported by a wide range of other activities for all levels. The centre stocks quality equipment, moving predominantly towards the latest North gear, with a good selection of kites, twin-tip kiteboards, wings and wingfoil boards. For those keen to ride waves, there is also a variety of surfboards available.
The conditions here change with the tide, but kitesurfing and wingfoiling are possible at any time. Riders can enjoy two super-flat water lagoons divided by a sandbar at mid to low tide, as well as wave riding outside the lagoons on the open sea. As the area sits at a river mouth, currents can be strong at times, adding to the challenge. Altogether, this creates a natural playground with three distinct spots in one location: a sheltered flat-water lagoon, the river mouth, and the open ocean. The ultra-flat water in the lagoons makes it particularly suitable for beginners and those looking to progress their skills.
All lessons are always on a private basis, with full boat safety cover. The beach is wide, open, and safe, providing ample space for learning and practice.
Beyond kitesurfing, the centre also offers guided SUP and canoe tours up the river, mountain bike and e-bike trips along the coast to the lively town of Pipa, as well as guided visits to nearby villages for a taste of local culture.
